Funds Announce by US for India to Fight off Infectious Diseases

To eliminate the infectious diseases from the Indian peninsula, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), US, has sanctioned funding worth 122 million USD. The total funding will be distributed among the three top Indian Health Research Institutes i.e., the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the National Institute of Virology (NIV), and the National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE).

Prevention of avoidable epidemics, early detection of disease threats, and rapid and effective response are some of the primary objectives of the initiative. The ICMR institutions are looking forward to Infectious disease-free India by focusing on emerging and remerging pathogens. The funds were sanctioned in a bid to speed up the progress of the healthcare sector, which in turn will ensure a safe and secure India.
